The
Department |
|
St Gregory’s has excellent
ICT facilities with over 220 PC’s connected to
the school network. The ICT department provides
extra curricular access for pupils every week
both before and after school on Tuesdays,
Wednesdays and Thursdays. Before school access
is for all pupils with after school dedicated to
upper school. |
|
Facilities |
|
There are 3 dedicated ICT
suites, although ICT plays an increasingly
important role throughout the whole curriculum.
The suites are available for other subject areas
to book into as required. |

Lower School ICT |
|
All lower school pupils study
ICT for 1 hour per week. In year 7 this is
taught as form groups whilst in years 8 and 9
forms are split into smaller mixed ability
groups as per the technology carousel.

Upper School ICT |
|
Within the upper school
pupils can either opt to take applied ICT or
complete a short core ICT GCSE.
The Applied ICT course represents 2 GCSE
qualifications and is a subject based around the
use of ICT in the workplace. The course
consists of ⅓ written exam and ⅔ coursework.
The short course GCSE builds on the skills
pupils have covered in the lower school and
consists of 40% written exam and 60% coursework.
There is a strong tradition of support within
the ICT department that extends to all pupils
using the equipment to further their GCSE
studies regardless of subject. |
