Mission Statement

"Every member of St. Gregory’s Catholic High School will work together in solidarity for the common good of our diverse community. We have no better inspiration than the teaching of Jesus Christ.

We believe every person is unique and made in the image of God and should be treated justly with dignity, love and respect.

We will follow Jesus by embracing our God given charisms to carry out our mission to serve.

We are one family inspired to learn

Our Vision

The Core Principles underpinning our Vision

• The Common Good

• Dignity

• Solidarity

• Subsidiarity

“There is a strong sense of community across the school. This reflects the school vision, ‘One family inspired to learn’. One pupil said: ‘We are cared about as individuals but, because everyone cares, that makes us all one”

‘Dignity’

The bedrock of Catholic Social Teaching, is that humans were created in the image and likeness of God. All individuals have an inherent and immeasurable worth and dignity. Each person is unique and special.

‘The Common Good’

The common good is “the sum total of social conditions which allow people, either as groups or as individuals, to reach their fulfilment more fully and more easily” Advocating for the common good begins with the protection of human dignity and includes society fulfilling its responsibilities and duties toward one another.

‘Solidarity’

The principle of solidarity recognises that we are one human family despite nationality, ethnicity, ideology, or status, and that we ought to love our neighbours as such. Solidarity seeks the eradication of racism, disease, and poverty. As Blessed Paul VI taught, “If you want peace, work for justice”

‘Subsidiarity’

The principle of subsidiarity holds that decision-making is best placed where responsibility for outcomes will occur; and in the closest appropriate proximity to where the actions will be taken that will produce the outcomes. Like in any family, those who live in the house and know the family, know what is best for that family.
